This event was attended in particular by the Canadian Prime Minister, Mr. Justin Trudeau, and the President of Burkina Faso, Mr Roch Marc Christian Kaboré.
In a speech on this occasion, Mr. Bourita began by emphasizing the "irreversible" nature of peace, as well as the multiplication of commitments in this regard. The Minister explained that no less than 80 special envoys are assigned to missions in the Sahel region, some of them have been reassigned in view of resolving other crises.
In this regard, Mr. Nasser Bourita highlighted the essential role of international financial institutions, in particular the African Development Bank (AfDB), which boasts an extensive field of experience and several success stories.
Referring to the question of triangular cooperation, which he described as “essential”, the Minister recalled that Morocco has proven experience and know-how that led to the implementation of solid cooperation projects, noting that triangular cooperation allows to raise and provide funds that can sometimes be lacking.
In the same spirit, he insisted on the imperative need to consolidate coordination in order to avoid the proliferation of similar and redundant initiatives.
The President of the African Development Bank, Mr. Akinwumi Adesina, took the floor to praise the avant-garde and proactive role of the Kingdom in terms of cooperation on the African continent, citing in particular the electrification project in the Sahel, called “Desert to Power”, led by the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN).
