Chairperson of AU Commission Confirms Exclusivity of UN in Resolution of Moroccan Sahara Issue

Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, confirmed, Sunday in Addis Ababa, the exclusivity of the United Nations in the resolution of the Moroccan Sahara issue.
Speaking at the opening of the 33rd Assembly of heads of State and government of the AU, Moussa Faki said that in accordance with decision 693 of the Nouakchott Summit, the AU Troika will provide effective support to the UN-led process, which is the framework voluntarily chosen by the parties for a lasting political solution.
Decision 693 of the Nouakchott Summit reaffirmed support for the ongoing UN process to find a mutually acceptable political solution to this regional dispute.
