''We welcome Morocco's initiative for this peaceful action with the objective of restoring the fluid movement of people and goods in the border area between Morocco and Mauritania, which has been suspended because of blockage by the separatists who operate in the region,'' said Giannakou, State Deputy of the New Democracy Party, in a letter to the Moroccan embassy in Greece.
She stressed that the Greece-Morocco Friendship Group also lauded Morocco's commitment to the ceasefire agreements, as well as its willingness to continue to support the efforts of the United Nations in the political process, in order to settle the regional dispute, in accordance with Security Council resolutions.
She also expressed the wish, in her capacity as Vice-President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, for a strengthening of cooperation for the benefit of Greek-Moroccan relations, the friendship between the two peoples as well as Morocco's relations with the international community.
