In this message, His Majesty the King extended to Macron, as well as to the entire French people, on his personal behalf and that of the Kingdom, His most heartfelt condolences and deep compassion, affirming that he was very moved by the passing of the former President of the French Republic Valéry Giscard d'Estaing "who marked the France of the XXth century by his modernity, his courage and the strength of its convictions".
"A man of heart and spirit, he was ardently driven by great ambitions for France and for Europe", underlined the Sovereign in this message.
His Majesty the King said that he recalls today "the historic State visit that President Giscard d'Estaing made to the Kingdom, at the invitation of My dear father, the late His Majesty King Hassan II, may God have Him in His Holy Mercy".
"Morocco commends his memory and will keep the recollection of the deceased as a great friend whose sense of commitment was invaluable to the development of friendly relations between Our two countries," said the Sovereign.
