It should be rcalled that the Rabat Process on the AASP is the translation of the Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, aiming to make this region a space of peace, stability, and shared prosperity through the strengthening of integration and cooperation between the concerned countries.

This meeting of senior officials is part of the implementation of the Programme of Action adopted by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the AASP, during their meeting held in Rabat on July 12, 2023, under the chairmanship of Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Expatriates. Mr. Bourita underlined on that occasion that "The Programme of Actions is the expression of our common desire to establish a flexible and meaningful partnership to promote stability and shared prosperity in the African Atlantic space".

A fruitful exchange of views on the prospects for cooperation in the field of justice took place between senior officials of the Ministries of Justice of the African countries bordering the Atlantic. Mr. Tarik IZIRAREN, Permanent Secretary of the AASP, introduced during this meeting the main outlines of this African cooperation initiative in the Atlantic, which is structured around three pillars, namely political and security dialogue; the blue economy, maritime connectivity and energy; and sustainable development and the environment.

The meeting of  Ministers of Justice scheduled for next April in Marrakech aims, among other things, to create a Forum of Ministers of Justice of the AASP with the objective of bringing together the efforts of African Atlantic countries to meet common challenges, such as terrorism, transnational organized crime or piracy, as well as to foster the exchange of experiences and expertise regarding the encouragement of investment and the promotion of sustainable development that serves the populations of these countries.
