Inter-Libyan Dialogue of Bouznika: CEN-SAD Welcomes 2nd Round Agreements
In a statement, CEN-SAD said it followed with satisfaction the conclusion, Tuesday, October 6, of the second round of negotiations in Bouznika between the Libyan parties under the aegis of Morocco, welcoming the agreement reached on "mechanisms and criteria" for holding key positions within the sovereign institutions, provided for in Article 15 of the Skhirat Agreement signed in December 2015.
It also welcomed "the firm resolve of all parties to overcome the current political divides in the best interest of the Libyan nation, as well as their commitment to use the Libyan Political Agreement of Skhirate of 2015 and the conclusions of the Berlin Conference on Libya (2020), as reference documents for a comprehensive agreement."
The CEN-SAD reiterated its appreciation to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, for "the impetus given to the inter-Libyan dialogue" and "the consistency in supporting the Libyan parties, which is a further proof of the constructive commitment of the Kingdom to peace, security and the social-economic development in Africa.
Such commitment is appreciated and welcomed at bilateral and multilateral levels, the Community of Sahel-Saharan States underscored.
The CEN-SAD also congratulated the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, "for the fruitful accompaniment of these inter-Libyan talks", expressing its strong endorsement of Morocco's appeal for an active and coordinated international support to peace and to the national reconciliation process in Libya.
The Community of Sahel-Saharan States reiterated its readiness to accompany the Libyan parties in the implementation of thee "Bouznika consensus," which it described as a guarantee of peace and stability in Libya and the entire Sahelo-Saharan space.
