"The recent organization of the Libyan Dialogue on September 6, 2020, aimed at consolidating the August 20, 2020 ceasefire and facilitating negotiations between the opposing Libyan parties, was a historic revival of the political process in Libya," Skerrit said in the message.
"The government of the Commonwealth of Dominica recognizes the neutrality and active diplomacy demonstrated by the Kingdom of Morocco throughout the crisis in Libya, and affirms its continued support for the Government of Morocco's firm and consistent position on the need to achieve a political rather than a military solution to the Libyan conflict," said the Prime Minister of Dominica.
Skerrit noted that this support is based on the conviction that peaceful means such as negotiations and dialogue are most likely to promote the resolution of conflicts and Dominica's adherence to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign States.
Speaking in his personal name and on behalf of the government and people of Dominica, Skerrat said the Kingdom of Morocco stands out as a "haven of peace in the region".
"Most importantly, your government's peace mediation efforts are likely to open up renewed prospects for the region to achieve more lasting political and economic stability that can alleviate the suffering of the Libyan people and further promote the capacity to foster greater peace, security and stability in the Maghreb and Sahel regions," concluded the message from Dominica's Prime Minister.
