In a statement of its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Liberia expressed its concern over the latest developments in the southern provinces and supports the preservation of the free movement of goods, people and services.
Calling for the respect of the ceasefire, upheld for three decades, and backing the Moroccan Autonomy Plan, Liberia said that it aligns itself with the UN position aimed at achieving a permanent political solution to the conflict over the Sahara, recognizing the “peaceful efforts made by Morocco for a lasting and peaceful solution under the aegis of the United Nations”.
Liberia urged, as well, the UN Secretary-General to speed up the process of appointing his personal envoy to “boost the peace initiative in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions”.
