MFA Bourita receives his Malian counterpart, carrying a message to His Majesty King Mohammed VI
Following their bilateral meeting, the two ministers held a joint press conference during which Mr. Bourita highlighted the deep historical relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Mali, distinguished by a strong human dimension, consolidated by the Royal visits of 2013 and 2014 and crowned by the signing of 17 bilateral agreements.
The two officials agreed to reactivate all the Moroccan-Malian cooperation mechanisms and to relaunch the sectoral visits. Mr. Bourita expressed Morocco's willingness to support Mali in the development of several key sectors such as agriculture, health and vocational training.
Mr. Bourita also reiterated Morocco's constant position which opposes any interference in Mali's internal affairs, believing that it is the key factor in its stability. It is in this logic that Morocco supports Mali in its political transition he added.
The Malian Minister of Foreign Affairs added that he was honored to deliver to the Very High Attention of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the message of peace, friendship, solidarity and fraternity addressed by President Goïta.
Regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue, Mr. Diop reiterated the constant and position of Mali, stressing that his country will not undertake any measures that would be opposed to the interests of Morocco.
He also conveyed the condolences of the President of the transition of Mali, the government and the entire Malian population to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the government, the Moroccan people and the families of the truck drivers following "the barbaric act perpetrated by the enemies of peace of our two countries".
Referring to the current situation in Mali, Mr. Diop praised the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the position of Morocco as well as the efforts made to support the political transition process with the objective of holding transparent and credible elections.
