MFA Nasser Bourita Confers with U.S. Secretary of State


The two officials welcomed the strong and lasting strategic partnership linking the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America for decades.
The personal relationship between HM King Mohammed VI and His Excellency U.S. President Joe Biden is likely to give a strong impetus to this partnership, based on shared values, converging interests and a common desire to work for regional peace and stability.
On this occasion, the U.S. Secretary of State praised the progress made by Morocco during the last two decades under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in terms of political reforms, economic progress and social development.
Blinken also praised the leadership of the Sovereign in the fight against climate change and investment in renewable energy and promotion of the green economy.
The two leaders also exchanged on regional issues of common interest, including the situation in Libya and the Sahel. In this regard, the U.S official "welcomed the stabilizing role played by Morocco in a tumultuous neighborhood".
Regarding the trilateral agreement signed on December 22, 2020, by the United States, Israel and Morocco, Blinken welcomed the resumption of official contacts between Morocco and Israel and noted that these relations are bound to bring long-term dividends, while stressing "the pioneering role and credible action of Morocco in bringing about a lasting peace in the Middle East."
The two officials welcomed the celebration this year of the 200th anniversary of the donation of the American legation building in Tangier to the United States by Sultan Moulay Sulayman, which is an example of the many aspects of the long-standing Moroccan-American strategic partnership.
