Following their bilateral talks, Mr. Nasser Bourita and Mr. Daren Tang proceeded to the signing of a letter of intent regarding an intellectual property training program.
The document outlines the development and implementation of a structured and regular training program aimed at enhancing intellectual property skills for Moroccan diplomats, with the goal of improving their understanding of fundamental principles in this field.
In this context, regular training programs will be offered by the Moroccan Academy of Diplomatic Studies (AMED), under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, in collaboration with WIPO.
These programs will take into account national needs and priorities and may involve diplomats from different countries, especially from Africa and the Arab region.
This signing reflects WIPO and Morocco's commitment to strengthening their partnership and developing new joint initiatives and projects to boost the national innovation and creativity ecosystem and enhance WIPO's engagement with various national stakeholders in the field of intellectual property.
Morocco places particular importance on intellectual property rights as a driver of development and prosperity. This commitment is demonstrated through its membership in WIPO conventions and treaties and the adaptation of its legal framework in harmony with international standards.
Morocco is also a significant partner of WIPO, having been one of the first African countries to join the organization in 1971. It was elected to the presidency of the WIPO General Assembly for the 2019-2021 biennium, becoming the first Arab and the second African country to hold this position.
WIPO can thus count on the ongoing support of the Kingdom to contribute to a more effective and inclusive intellectual property system.
