MFA Nasser Bourita Holds Talks with the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for the Moroccan Sahara
This meeting took place in the presence of the Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to the UN, Mr. Omar Hilale.
Mr. de Mistura's regional visit is part of the implementation of the Security Council’s resolution 2602, adopted on October 29, 2021, in which the UN executive body reiterates its call to the parties to pursue their engagement in the round table process, in a spirit of realism and compromise, in order to reach a realistic, pragmatic, lasting political solution, based on compromise.
During these talks, the Moroccan delegation reiterated the fundamentals of the Kingdom's position, as in the speeches of His Majesty King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the 45th and 46th anniversaries of the Green March.
The Sovereign had reaffirmed, in the mentioned speeches, Morocco's attachment to the resumption of the political process led under the exclusive auspices of the UN to reach a political solution, based on the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative, as part of the round table process, and in the presence of the four participants.
