"Morocco considers Kenya, under the leadership of President William Ruto, a pivotal player and a cornerstone of peace and stability in Africa," MFA Bourita underlined during a joint press briefing with Kenyan Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, following their talks.
In this context, he highlighted Kenya’s dynamic economic growth and its role as a strategic platform and entry point for Morocco into East Africa, noting that "our relations will be elevated to a robust partnership across all fields, underpinned by political coordination and economic cooperation in key sectors such as investment and food security."
MFA Bourita noted that the Kenyan official’s visit to the Kingdom is particularly significant, as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
He also said that both sides agreed to convene a session of the bilateral joint commission before the end of the year—“a positive signal of the strong momentum in bilateral relations, inspired by the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President William Ruto.”
He added that the agreements signed during this visit—covering trade, training, housing, and other sectors—are expected to further enrich the legal framework supporting future cooperation between the two countries.
In this regard, the Minister called on the private sector to contribute to the dynamic evolution of Moroccan-Kenyan ties, propelled by strong political will, noting that an economic forum and a business delegation visit to Nairobi are scheduled before the end of the year.
MFA Bourita also underlined the importance of strengthening people-to-people ties and advancing the legal framework, including through agreements on double taxation and investment protection.
He reiterated Morocco’s support for Nairobi’s role as Africa’s multilateral hub, especially on climate, environmental issues, and related international commitments.
On the facilitation of travel between the two countries, MFA Bourita announced that Kenya has added Morocco to its list of e-Visa-eligible countries, adding that the Kingdom will reciprocate by granting Kenyan nationals the same access—an initiative aimed at deepening human and cultural ties between the two nations.
He also welcomed the opening of the Kenyan Embassy in Rabat, describing it as a milestone in bilateral relations that will accelerate the implementation of joint cooperation projects.
On this occasion, the Minister commended Kenya’s constructive stance on the Kingdom’s territorial integrity, which he said has injected fresh momentum into bilateral ties, in line with the shared vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Ruto to build a model of South-South cooperation.
