Thursday 05 November 2020
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, received today November 5th, the Minister for the British Armed Forces, Mr. James Heappey.
During this first visit to Morocco, Mr. Heappey was accompanied by Sir John Lorimer, Lieutenant General and Mr. Simon Martin, British Ambassador to Morocco.
The Moroccan-British military cooperation, which is in constant evolution, is based on mutual support, trainings, organization of combined exercises, exchange of visits and information as well as the participation in various training sessions, like the “Jebel Sahara” exercise which takes place each year in Marrakech.
This cooperation is overseen by a Framework Agreement for Military and Technical Cooperation signed in 1993 as well as a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) signed in 2013.
