MFA Nasser Bourita receives his Senegalese counterpart

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita received, on 27 May, 2024 in Rabat, the Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Senegal, Ms. Yassine Fall.

In a Joint press Conference following this bilateral meeting, Mr. Nasser Bourita pointed out that in accordance with the far-sighted vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Moroccan-Senegalese relations have a "special place" in the Kingdom's foreign policy,

"It is a solidarity and cooperation relationship that His Majesty the King has always wanted to guide towards mutual benefit to provide a very particular model of inter-African and South-South cooperation,” Bourita underlined.

Based on the "unique character" of this relationship, His Majesty the King "insisted that a Moroccan delegation participates in the swearing-in ceremony of His brother President of the Republic of Senegal, Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye", the minister said.

The participation of a delegation on the High Instructions of His Majesty the King at this ceremony was another testimony of the Royal attachment to strengthening this relationship, he noted, adding that it was also "an expression of trust from HM the King in the choices and decisions of the Senegalese people and the strong institutions of Senegal."

He also pointed out that Fall's visit to Morocco, the first of its kind on a bilateral basis to a foreign country, is "the sign of a unique relationship between the two countries and a mutual attachment of Moroccan and Senegalese peoples to promoting bilateral relations".

In this regard, Mr. Nasser Bourita reiterated the Kingdom's full willingness to share its experience and expertise with Senegal, in accordance with the High Royal Instructions, to strengthen bilateral relations in all areas.

"We have many assets in the bilateral relationship, in particular these historical roots, this strong human relationship and this experience of very fruitful cooperation between the two countries,” he noted.

Mr. Nasser Bourita also underlined that Morocco and Senegal are two actors of stability in Africa, adding that within pan-African regional organizations and the multilateral system, the two countries always work for the same values and goals.

"Our political consultation mechanisms have always helped us to converge our priorities and initiatives,” he added.

The minister also expressed Morocco's appreciation for Senegal's clear and constant positions in favor of Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire territory, stressing that "Senegal has always been an ally of Morocco on this issue”.

On her side, the Senegalese Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Yassine Fal, said pointed out that Morocco and Senegal are driven by a common willingness to further improve their bilateral relations under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye.


The Senegalese minister hailed the momentum of bilateral cooperation and the willingness reaffirmed by HM the King and the Senegalese President to consolidate the centuries-old relations of friendship and fraternity between Senegalese and Moroccan governments and people.

The head of Senegalese diplomacy also welcomed the common commitment of the two countries to put their collaboration in the same constant momentum of dialogue and consultation, stressing that her visit to Morocco, the first to a foreign country on a bilateral basis, “testifies at the highest level to the importance that Senegal grants to its relations with Morocco”.

In this regard, she welcomed the spirit of consultation between Senegal and Morocco on regional and international issues.

Ms. Yassine Fal seized this opportunity to express her thanks to HM King Mohammed VI for the participation, on High Royal instructions, of a high-level delegation in the inauguration ceremony of President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye.

The Senegalese minister also said that her country is interested in Morocco's experience in different areas, particularly human development, health, children's education and crafts.
