Morocco-Bulgaria : signing of two cooperation agreements and a joint communiqué
Signed by Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, and Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Mariya Gabriel, these agreements are meant to promote bilateral relations based on friendship, dialogue, solidarity and cooperation.
The first agreement on co-production and cinematographic exchange aims to strengthen Moroccan- Bulgarian cooperation through facilitating joint cinematographic production, developing the film industry in the two countries and stepping-up their cultural and commercial exchanges in this field.
The second agreement covers a three-year cooperation program in education, higher education, scientific research, culture, communication, youth and sports for 2024-2026.
It aims to promote exchange of information and experiences between Morocco and Bulgaria in education and teaching, encourage academic cooperation between the two countries and promote better mutual knowledge of their culture.
This program also aims to enhance cooperation between the two countries in television and radio, encourage collaboration between national cinematographic institutions, share their experiences in the field of youth and promote cooperation in sports.
The joint communiqué adopted emphasized the importance of deepening the historical relations between the two countries.
The two ministers, expressed their intention to strengthen political dialogue, reaffirmed their common will to further enhance partnership in all areas of mutual interest, particularly in economic and trade cooperation, especially in the fields of renewable energies, green transition, high technologies, the automotive sector, agriculture, and value chain development.
To this end, both parties agreed to hold the 11th session of the Morocco-Bulgaria Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Industrial, Commercial, and Technical Cooperation, scheduled to take place in Morocco.
The ministers also highlighted, in the joint communiqué, the importance of promoting cooperation in the fields of education, science, and culture, particularly through partnerships and exchanges, including exploring possibilities for participation in research and development projects.
Mr. Bourita and Ms. Gabriel emphasized the significance of EU-Morocco cooperation in addressing current regional and global challenges.
They also underscored the need to develop cooperation, partnership, and dialogue between the EU and its southern neighborhood and the Euro-African zone, aiming to provide common responses to the challenges these regions face, particularly in terms of security, stability, migration, and socio-economic and human development.
In this regard, both ministers reaffirmed their intention to contribute to strengthening the strategic partnership between the European Union and the Kingdom of Morocco.
The two parties highlighted their positive and constructive role in maintaining stability, security, and peace in their respective regions and their commitment to the universal principles of the United Nations Charter, as well as the need for the peaceful resolution of conflicts in full respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty of states.
The ministers expressed their willingness to deepen their dialogue and cooperation on regional and international issues of common interest and key strategic challenges. They also agreed to continue regular consultations, coordination, and cooperation within international organizations and bodies.
