Morocco- Côte d’Ivoire: Key points of the joint communiqué

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Ivorians Abroad, Mr. Kacou Houadja Léon Adom, proceeded, on 24 july, 2024 in Rabat, to the signing of a joint communiqué between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.

In a joint communiqué, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita and his Ivorian counterpart, Mr. Kacou Houadja Léon Adom, reaffirmed the shared commitment of the two countries to make the Moroccan-Ivorian strategic partnership an exceptional model of inter-African cooperation, based on the values of solidarity, exchange, trust, and sharing.

The two ministers welcomed the excellence of the ties of friendship and solidarity between the two countries, driven by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, and His Brother, His Excellency President Alassane Ouattara.

In this context, they also welcomed the significant progress made within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries, illustrated by numerous Royal visits by His Majesty the King to Abidjan, and the launch of several projects in various sectors such as infrastructure, fishing, housing, health, agriculture, and human development, reflecting the special place this brotherly country holds in the heart of His Majesty the King.

In this regard, the two ministers called on the private sectors of both countries to contribute to the revitalization and strengthening of economic exchanges and partnerships through the reactivation of the mechanisms provided under the Economic Impetus Group (GIE), with the aim of giving new impetus to bilateral cooperation in sectors of common interest.

They expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work and infrastructure carried out within the framework of the project to rehabilitate the Cocody Bay in Abidjan, which was launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Brother His Excellency President Alassane Ouattara in 2014.

Furthermore, the two parties reiterated the importance of establishing a monitoring mechanism and mutually beneficial operational cooperation between the port infrastructures of the two countries, particularly between Tanger-Med and the port of Abidjan as well as the new port of Dakhla Atlantic.

Addressing regional and international issues of common interest, the two ministers noted with satisfaction their convergence of views on the various issues discussed.

They praised the constant efforts made by Morocco, under the wise and enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and by the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire with the new impetus of His Excellency President Alassane Ouattara, in favor of peace and development on the African continent.
