Morocco, Colombia Approve 2020-2022 Cooperation Program

This program, adopted at the 2nd meeting of the joint Moroccan-Colombian commission for technical and scientific cooperation, provides for the implementation of several projects in the sectors of agriculture, crafts, culture, archives, sport, health, security and tourism.
The projects formulated by Morocco concern in particular the strengthening of production chains for the development and improvement of agricultural techniques, the strengthening of means and protocols for sanitary and phytosanitary security and the strengthening of the judicial police. As for the projects formulated by Colombia, they relate to the exchange of information in the field of infantile and juvenile football and the strengthening of the artisanal value chain and technical training schemes.
They also concern sustainable nature tourism in desert areas as well as capacity building in the area of conservation, management and communication of cultural heritage in Morocco and Colombia. Regarding cultural cooperation, the two sides expressed their willingness to encourage the dissemination of their cultures to develop the bonds of friendship between the two peoples.
The two countries also agreed to encourage the exchange of experts, documents and cultural materials in the sectors of cultural communication, cinema, music, dance, documentation and archeology. They also agreed to encourage participation in international cultural events in cinema, theater, music and dance, as well as in art exhibitions and book fairs, organized in Morocco and Colombia.
In the field of education, the two parties will develop joint actions to promote educational, school and professional cooperation in accordance with their respective laws. The two parties also underlined their readiness to develop cooperation and the exchange of experience in the higher education and scientific research sectors, in particular by strengthening academic cooperation, building partnerships between higher education and scientific research establishments and promoting Moroccan and Colombian cultures at the two countries’ universities.
In the area of youth and sports, the two countries have agreed to carry out cooperative actions through the exchange of youth groups and the encouragement of cooperation between youth organizations in the two countries. The two sides will strengthen their cooperation in the field of sports by encouraging cooperation between organizations, federations and sports institutions of the two countries, exchanging experiences, information and documentation and good practices in the fields of management and administration of sports facilities and in the areas of sport medicine and anti-doping.
This meeting was co-chaired by the Ambassador, Director General of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans abroad, Fouad Yazough and the Colombian Deputy Minister for Multilateral Affairs, Adriana Mejia Hernandez.
