Mr. Nasser Bourita : "His Majesty the King Supports Libyan Dialogue without Imposing Solutions"
Any foreign interference in the Libyan issue will have repercussions on North Africa and Morocco, as will the growing activities of terrorist groups, Mr. Bourita pointed out in an interview with Sky News Arabia.
The foreign policy adopted by the Kingdom, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is "based on clarity, ambition and transparency with every country", he added.
"Morocco has interacted with the will of the Libyans to dialogue, and they themselves have chosen to meet in Bouznika", he stressed, adding that the Kingdom supports a peaceful solution to the Libyan crisis, the end of foreign interference and the unity of the country.
The Minister highlighted, in this regard, the results of the Libyan Dialogue in Bouznika, in particular the agreements reached on the criteria and mechanisms for filling sovereignty posts, provided for by article 15 of the Libyan Skhirate Political Agreement, signed in December 2015. Commenting the immigration issue, Mr. Bourita noted the existence of media exaggeration and political exploitation of this issue by European countries, noting that only 1.5 million Africans are concerned by illegal immigration, 20% of whom travel to Europe, i.e. 0.5% of the volume of global immigration.
The Minister stressed that illegal immigration implies a shared responsibility between the countries of origin, transit and reception, underlining the need to fight against human trafficking networks instead of criminalizing immigrants.
Morocco assumes its responsibilities related to the immigration issue, he said, recalling that the policy adopted by the Kingdom in this area has made it possible to regularize the situation of more than 50,000 sub-Saharan immigrants.
