The Minister conveyed, on this occasion, to the UN Chief the greetings of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, as well as the support of the Sovereign for his action and his leadership at the head of the United Nations, particularly during the exceptional and difficult circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic.
For his part, the UN Secretary-General instructed the Moroccan Foreign Minister to convey his warmest greetings to His Majesty the King, May God Assist Him. He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Sovereign for his steady support for the action of the United Nations in several areas, including sustainable development, human rights, climate change and the promotion of peace, stability and security in Africa.
Mr. Bourita paid tribute to the action and initiatives of Mr. Guterres in the collective response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
These talks provided an opportunity to discuss the fruitful and multi-dimensional cooperation between Morocco and the UN, in particular in peacekeeping operations and issues related to sustainable development, the environment and the fight against terrorism.
The talks, which also focused on the latest developments of the Moroccan Sahara issue, were also an opportunity to discuss regional issues of common interest, in particular Libya, the Sahel and Africa.
