The two-day event is attended by 38 high-level delegations representing African security services and international, regional and sub-regional organizations involved in the fight against terrorism.
In a regional and international security context marked by a growing threat from terrorist groups, this meeting follows on from its first edition, held in Marrakech on June 23 and 24, 2022. It provides an important opportunity for an edifying debate on the various strategies and approaches for consolidating regional cooperation on counter-terrorism issues, assessing the terrorist threat and building capacity to foster the long-term resilience of Morocco's African partners.
Launched in 2022, the "Marrakech Platform" is a joint initiative between Morocco and UNOCT to provide a space for the Heads of counter-terrorism and security agencies in Africa to exchange and assess terrorist threats, strategies, challenges and approaches to strengthening regional counter-terrorism cooperation, as well as capacity-building needs for resilience.
