4th session of the Morocco-Burkina Faso Joint Commission: key points of the joint communiqué
In the Joint Communiqué issued at the end of the 4th session of the Joint Cooperation Commission, held in Dakhla, the two ministers reiterated their shared determination to make the Morocco-Burkina Faso partnership a model of South-South and inter-African cooperation.
They praised the excellence of the deep ties of friendship and solidarity between the two countries, and praised the quality of the feelings of esteem and respect that characterize the relationship between His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of the Transition and Head of State of Burkina Faso.
During their meeting, the two ministers praised the bonds of brotherhood and solidarity that exist between the two countries, and reaffirmed their determination to boost and diversify bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic and commercial spheres. They noted that the meeting had given a new dynamic to the excellent relations between the two countries.
The two sides welcomed the sustained pace of mutually beneficial and fruitful bilateral cooperation between the two countries, as well as the prospects for diversifying and consolidating this partnership in promising sectors such as security, transport, training, agriculture, food safety, water and health.
The two ministers also underlined the interest shown by the two Heads of State in developing economic relations between the two brotherly countries, as part of a new partnership strategy.
In this context, Mr. Bourita underlined the Kingdom of Morocco's willingness to contribute to Burkina Faso's socio-economic development efforts.
The Burkinabe side welcomed the constant efforts made by Morocco, under the wise and enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God help him, to promote peace and development in Africa.
The two ministers stressed the shared desire of the Kingdom of Morocco and Burkina Faso to contribute to the maintenance of peace and stability on the African continent in general and in the Sahel region in particular.
They also noted with satisfaction the convergence of their views on the various issues raised and reaffirmed their determination to participate in efforts to resolve conflicts in Africa.
Both parties reaffirmed the commitment of their leaders to work together to achieve lasting peace and economic development on the African continent, particularly in the context of the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
For his part, Mr. Bourita expressed Morocco's full solidarity with Burkina Faso in its tireless efforts to combat the scourge of terrorism and violent extremism, stressing that Burkina Faso will always find in Morocco a partner constantly committed to promoting and supporting its initiatives for stability and development.
For her part, Ms. Rouamba thanked Morocco for its solidarity and support for Burkina Faso in the face of security and humanitarian challenges.
The two parties also praised the effective coordination of their actions and mutual support in continental and international fora and undertook to step up consultations with a view to bringing their positions closer together.
They expressed their mutual satisfaction with the unconditional support they have always given to each other in various continental and international forums.
To this end, the two parties agreed to continue to support, in a concerted and reciprocal manner, the candidacies of Morocco and Burkina Faso for these bodies.

Concerning the Sahara issue, Burkina Faso reaffirmed its support for the autonomy plan initiative presented by Morocco, stressing that this plan is the only credible and realistic solution to resolve the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
The head of Burkina Faso's diplomacy also reiterated Burkina Faso's firm and constant support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco.
She stressed that the opening of a consulate general in Dakhla on October 23, 2020 is in line with Burkina Faso's historical position.
The Burkinabe Minister also praised the efforts of the United Nations as the exclusive and consensual framework for finding a realistic, practical and lasting solution to the Sahara dispute.
