Rabat - Turkmenistan has affirmed its support for the Moroccan autonomy initiative, as "the only solution" to the dispute over the Sahara. This position was expressed on Wednesday in Rabat by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rachid Meredov, after his talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita.

Turkmenistan supports the Moroccan autonomy initiative as "the only solution" to this dispute, as well as the UN efforts to find a political solution to this issue, said Turkmenistan's foreign minister during a press briefing with his Moroccan counterpart. Meredov is on a two-day official visit to the Kingdom, the first of its kind since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992.
