“We aim to reinforce our partnership so that these 60 years of friendship mark the beginning of a new chapter,” Mudavadi underlined during a joint press briefing following his talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita.
In this regard, he underscored Nairobi’s intention to engage with key Moroccan stakeholders across multiple sectors, including telecommunications, transport, and agriculture.
On economic cooperation, Mr. Mudavadi commended Morocco’s leadership and its sustained support for African integration efforts, which he said play a vital role in boosting the continent’s economic development.
“A long and rich history connects us,” the Kenyan official stressed, adding that his working visit to the Kingdom reflects “the strength of the friendship” between the two nations.
Hailing bilateral cooperation on the international stage, Mudavadi recalled that Morocco and Kenya have worked together effectively within the African Union. “We will continue this collaboration, including within the United Nations framework,” he affirmed.
He also expressed appreciation to Morocco for reaffirming its support for Kenya’s bid to host negotiations on a global Plastics Treaty, as part of international efforts to address environmental challenges.
“This is a significant issue,” he noted, “especially since Kenya hosts the headquarters of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).”
Welcoming the recent inauguration of the Kenyan Embassy in Rabat, Mudavadi said it “symbolizes the deepening cooperation between Kenya and Morocco, which is now entering a new phase.”
