Mr. Bourita reiterated the support of Morocco to the Presidential Leadership Council, chaired by Rashad Al-Alimi, expressing the hope that it can carry out its missions in the best conditions, in order to complete this transitional phase, able to ensure the territorial integrity of Yemen and its sovereignty over all its territory. He also said that the end of the crisis in Yemen must come through a political solution, under the relevant international resolutions, in particular, the Security Council Resolution No. 2216, the GCC Initiative and its implementation mechanisms, as well as the conclusions of the national dialogue.
For his part, the head of Yemeni diplomacy expressed his country's consideration and gratitude to the positions of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, supporting legality in Yemen and the territorial integrity of the country. He also welcomed the initiative of HM King Mohammed VI to donate one million dollars as a contribution of the Kingdom of Morocco to the international solidarity efforts, on the holding, on March 1, 2021, of the high-level meeting on the Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen.
Mr. BinMubarak also welcomed the role of the Kingdom of Morocco in building the capacity of Yemeni skills in various fields, and the attention given to Yemeni students to facilitate their access to Moroccan universities and university accommodation, reiterating the thanks of his country to the decision of Morocco to increase the quotas of subsidies granted to Yemeni students.
Regarding the Sahara issue, the Yemeni Minister affirmed Yemen's full support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Moroccanity of the Sahara, considering that the settlement of this regional dispute can only be done within the framework of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco and its national and territorial integrity.
The two sides discussed the announcement of the truce, which was conducted under the auspices of the United Nations, to halt military operations, open Sana'a International Airport and lift the Houthi siege on the city of Taez, praising the great concessions made by the Yemeni government in this regard, in the face of continued Houthi violations that undermine efforts to consolidate the truce and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis.
In this regard, the two sides condemned the Houthi militias' rejection of all calls for peace, their stubborn targeting of civilians and infrastructure, tearing apart the social fabric, spreading extremist ideology, and threatening international shipping, as well as their continued attacks on civilians and civilian objects in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates with ballistic missiles and drones.
Both parties expressed their deep concern over the serious threat posed by the "Safir" oil tanker, stressing the need to allow maintenance crews unhindered access to the tanker to avoid a potential environmental disaster.
The two Ministers agreed to strengthen coordination and consultation on various bilateral and regional issues, reiterating their willingness to enrich the legal framework, including the upcoming signing of a memorandum of understanding in the field of political consultations between the two countries, during an official visit of the Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs, the date of which would be determined by diplomatic means.
