Speaking to the press following the meeting, Cambon welcomed the fruitful and constructive discussions, underscoring the importance of a bilateral dialogue that has been nurtured over many years.
He noted that the 2024–2025 period has seen a number of positive developments, particularly the state visit to Morocco last October by French President Emmanuel Macron, during which France reaffirmed its support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces.
Cambon emphasized that the France-Morocco Friendship Group has always stood firmly behind Morocco’s position on the Sahara issue. He added that the members of the visiting delegation—"a diverse group united by a deep respect and affection for Morocco"—came to reaffirm their shared commitment to shaping a new chapter in French-Moroccan relations, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Macron.
To further consolidate the strong ties between the two countries, Cambon called for the revival of the Moroccan-French Interparliamentary Forum, whose last session was held in December 2019 in Paris.
Highlighting the need to inject fresh parliamentary momentum into bilateral relations, he cited several major joint projects that merit renewed cooperation, including the extension of Morocco’s high-speed rail line, the construction of Africa’s largest seawater desalination plant near Rabat, and the recent agreement between Royal Air Maroc and Airbus to expand the national carrier’s fleet.
Turning to the renewable energy sector, Cambon described Morocco’s achievements as “inspiring,” stating that the two countries could jointly shape a new vision for Africa’s sustainable development in this field.
Beyond longstanding cultural, scientific, and people-to-people exchanges, Cambon stressed that relations between Rabat and Paris could be further deepened through parliamentary diplomacy, which offers a complementary channel for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
